One of the main characteristics of Alexis Mourre's tenure at the helm of the International Court of Arbitration was his desire for arbitration to keep true to its promise of serving as an efficient means for conflict resolution. Thanks to Alexis' staunch determination, we find mechanisms in today's ICC cases that make sure arbitration moves closer to the ideal of a satisfactory response to the international business community, with the natural spill-over to the rest of the system.
Together with the decision to make ICC awards publicly available, the reforms that encourage ICC arbitral tribunals to conduct arbitrations more efficiently help bolster the international commercial arbitration system and increase its legitimacy. For this and other contributions, we are grateful to Alexis.
