Section I Introductory rules

Article 1 Scope of application


Where parties have agreed in writing that disputes between them in respect of a defined legal relationship, whether contractual or not, shall be referred to arbitration under the Rules of Arbitration of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (the “Rules”), then such disputes shall be settled in accordance with these Rules subject to such modification as the parties may agree in writing.


Where the parties have agreed to submit their disputes to arbitration under the Rules, they shall be deemed to have submitted to the Rules in effect on the date of commencement of the arbitration proceedings, unless agreed otherwise.


These Rules shall govern the arbitration except that where any of these Rules is in conflict with a provision of the law applicable to the arbitration from which the parties cannot derogate, that provision shall... [...]
